back; escapers and revolters excepted.] The provisions of this article shall apply to convicts in the penitentiary, excepting such convicts as have escaped from the penitentiary, or been concerned in any revolt whereby any convict has escaped, and shall operate back to the commencement of any such sentence of such convict.
