Text

The Interstate Compact on Mentally Disordered Offenders is entered into with all other jurisdictions legally joining therein in a form substantially as follows: INTERSTATE COMPACT ON MENTALLY DISORDERED OFFENDERS Article 1 - Purpose and Policy A. The party states, desiring by common action to improve their programs for the care and treatment of mentally disordered offenders, declare that it is the policy of each of the party states to:

(1)strengthen their own programs and laws for the care and treatment of the mentally disordered offender;
(2)encourage and provide for such care and treatment in the most appropriate locations, giving due recognition to the need to achieve adequacy of diagnosis, care, treatment, aftercare and auxiliary services and facilities and, to every extent practicab
