a.There is hereby established in the Department of Law and Public Safety the Victims of Crime Compensation Office.
b.The chief executive officer of the Victims of Crime Compensation Office shall be the director, who shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate. The director shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor. The Governor may appoint an acting director to serve as chief executive officer of the Victims of Crime Compensation Office, who may be the person serving as chairman of the Victims of Crime Compensation Board on the effective date of P.L.2007, c.95 (C.52:4B-3.2 et al.), and who shall serve as the director of the Victims of Crime Compensation Office until a successor is appointed and qualifies.
