a.A cemetery company organized as a for-profit corporation may amend its charter or certificate of incorporation to operate as a nonprofit lot owner cemetery subject to the provisions of this act provided a plan for the conversion of its issued stock to certificates of interest is first approved by a majority of its stockholders, and by a majority of the owners of interment spaces in attendance at and voting at a meeting called for that purpose. The stockholders shall be given 10 days' notice of the meeting by mail and the owners of interment spaces shall be notified of the meeting by a notice published at least 10 days in advance of the meeting date in a newspaper qualified to publish legal notices and circulated in the county in which the cemetery is located.
