§ 45:12-3 — Oath of office; officers; secretary-treasurer's compensation and bond; appointment and powers of agent

The members of the board shall, before entering upon the discharge of their duties, and within 30 days after their appointment, take and subscribe an oath before an officer authorized to administer oaths in this State, for the faithful performance of their duties, and file the same with the Secretary of State. They shall annually elect from their number a president, and shall also annually elect a secretary-treasurer, who may or may not be a member of the board, each of which officers shall hold office for 1 year and until his successor shall have been duly elected and qualified. The secretary-treasurer shall receive such compensation for his services as may be determined by the board, and shall give a bond for the faithful performance of his duties, in such sum as it may determine. The board may also appoint an agent, whose title shall be inspector of the New Jersey State Board of Optometrists, who shall hold office during the pleasure of the board, and shall, during his continuance in his office, be authorized to serve and execute any process issued by any court of record under the provisions of this chapter. The agent shall also have the power to enter any optometrist's office or place where the practice of optometry is carried on for the purpose of inspecting the premises and the license and registration of the optometrists therein.
