Text
Every person of full age who shall be a resident of and domiciled without interruption in any municipality of a county wherein this chapter has been adopted by referendum, for five years, excluding in the computation of such period the time if any spent by such person in any charitable or correctional institution, shall be deemed settled in such municipality and shall so remain until he shall have gained a like settlement in some other municipality or county in this state, or shall have removed from this state and remained therefrom continuously for one year, or shall have gained a legal settlement elsewhere in this state. If such person shall have removed from this state for more than one year, he shall not retain his settlement in any municipality or county in this state.
