a.Beginning January 1, 1993 until December 31, 1995, except as provided pursuant to subsection b. of this section, each employee shall, in such a manner and at such times as determined by the commissioner, contribute to the fund an amount equal to 0.6% of the employee's taxable wages. Beginning April 1, 1996 through December 31, 1996, each employee shall, in such a manner and at such times as determined by the commissioner, contribute to the fund an amount equal to 0.6% of the employee's taxable wages, except that the total amount contributed to the fund when combined with the employee's contribution made pursuant to R.S.43:31-7(d)(1)(D) for the period January 1, 1996 through March 31, 1996, shall not exceed 0.6% of the employee's taxable wages for the 1996 calendar year.
