9.The commission shall have the power to issue subpoenas to compel witnesses to attend and testify before it upon any matter concerning the retirement system and allow fees not in excess of $3.00 to any such witness for such attendance upon any one day; provided, however, that any city employee called as a witness shall not be paid any witness fee but shall not suffer the loss of any salary. The chairman and other members of said commission are empowered to administer oaths to such witnesses. Contempt of the commission may be punished by summary proceedings before a judge of the Superior Court. All retirements shall be made and pensions allowed by the commission in accordance with the provisions of this act and the rules and regulations of the commission. L.1954,c.218,s.9; amended 1991,c.
