40A:9-48. If the county or intercounty medical examiner is unable to perform any duty imposed upon him as such medical examiner, by law, he may appoint a resident licensed physician to act for and in his behalf. The physician so appointed shall have all the powers of the county or intercounty medical examiner and shall receive compensation for his services to be paid by the county or counties, as applicable. amended 2018, c.62, s.39.
