In any county the governing body, by resolution or ordinance, as appropriate, may provide for the appointment of a county superintendent of buildings and grounds. Upon any such appointment the governing body shall fix the compensation and prescribe the powers, duties and functions of said county superintendent. The term of office of the county superintendent of buildings and grounds shall be 5 years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is chosen and qualified. The said superintendent shall be required to furnish a bond in such amount as the governing body shall fix. The bond shall be subject to approval as to form by the governing body or the county counsel. L.1971, c. 200, s. 1, eff. July 1, 1971. Amended by L.1979, c. 433, s. 1, eff. Feb. 14, 1980.
