3.Before being assigned to any post, an adult school crossing guard shall be provided with a uniform which shall identify his function and which shall be distinct from the uniform of a member of the regular police department or force. Such uniform shall include but not be limited to a safety vest, a hat, and breast and hat badges which shall bear an identification number, and the name of the municipality in which he is employed. A police officer appointed as an adult crossing guard shall wear such uniform as directed by the chief of police of the municipality. L.1979,c.82,s.3; amended 1996, c.113, s.17.
