Any local unit may borrow money and issue its negotiable notes to meet an emergency appropriation. Each such note shall be authorized by resolution of the governing body, shall be designated an "emergency note" , and may be renewed from time to time. All such notes, and any renewals thereof, shall mature not later than the last day of the fiscal year next succeeding the fiscal year in which such notes were issued and the emergency appropriation authorized. The provisions of this chapter relating to tax anticipation notes shall apply to emergency notes except for limitations as to maturity and renewals. L.1960, c. 169, s. 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1962.
