Chapter 187 of the laws of 1964 (C. 40:47-20.12), as amended by P.L.1969, c. 267, s. 6, is saved from repeal. [The act saved from repeal by this section provides that in any municipality where no police department or force existed and subsequently upon the creation of such a department or force, any person, if otherwise qualified, may be appointed as chief of police of such department or force, notwithstanding he is over the maximum age as therein prescribed, or was not a resident of said municipality for 6 months preceding his appointment, provided he agrees to become a resident of said municipality within 3 years from the date of his appointment.] L.1971, c. 197, s. 1, eff.
