Sheriff's officers appointed under the provisions of this act shall have the duties, benefits and powers conferred by law on sheriff's officers, and their compensation shall be as fixed by the sheriff in accordance with the generally accepted county salary ranges and within the confines of the sheriff's budget allocation set by the governing body. L.1982, c. 133, s. 5, eff. Sept. 14, 1982. Amended by L.1984, c. 35, s. 4, eff. April 19, 1984.
