Whenever, pursuant to sections 40:62-108 to 40:62-150 of this Title, the commission shall condemn any waterworks free and clear of the lien of any mortgage or mortgages thereon, then upon the taking of possession by the commission of the waterworks and the payment of the award therefor into the court no further interest shall accrue upon such mortgage or mortgages. Upon the application of either the owner of the waterworks condemned or of the holder of any such mortgage or mortgages or of any debt secured thereby, the Superior Court shall determine the value of the debt secured by each such mortgage as of the date of such payment into court. In making its determination the court shall give due regard to the date of maturity of any such debt, the rate of interest provided to be paid thereon
