Text

The governing body may acquire by lease, gift, purchase or condemnation, or erect, maintain and equip such building or buildings as may be suitable for use as a museum of arts and sciences, or as community centers, or as cultural centers, or for public exhibitions, lectures and assemblages, and may conduct such museums, community centers, cultural centers, lectures and public exhibitions, and may also allow the use of such buildings for public assemblages with or without charge being made therefor. In furtherance of any project for the development and maintenance of a community center, or where such community centers are established in furtherance of national defense activities, the governing body is authorized and empowered, without regard to the provisions of any other law, to apply for
