Notwithstanding the provisions of any law to the contrary, in any county of the first class operating under the provisions of P.L.1972, c. 154 (C. 40:41A-1 et seq.), the board of freeholders may appoint aides who shall be responsible to, and serve at the pleasure of, the board and who shall serve in the unclassified service of civil service. L.1984, c. 202, s. 1, eff. Nov. 28, 1984.
