§ 40:14A-25 — Connections with existing drains and pumping stations

(a) In order to carry out and effectuate its purposes, every sewerage authority is hereby authorized to enter upon and use and connect with any existing public drains, sewers, conduits, pipe lines, pumping and ventilating stations and treatment plants or works or any other public property of a similar nature within the district and, if deemed necessary by the sewerage authority, close off and seal outlets and outfalls therefrom. No sewerage authority shall, however, take permanent possession or make permanent use of any such treatment plant or works unless it acquires the same. (b) In order to carry out and effectuate its purposes, every sewerage authority is hereby authorized to construct, maintain and operate its sewerage system along, over, under and in any streets, alleys, highways and other public places within or without the district, doing no unnecessary injury thereto and making no unnecessary interruption in or interference with the public use of such places and restoring the same to their former usefulness and condition within a reasonable time.
