a.Each applicant for a crossing permit under this act shall accompany his application with a fee based on the gross weight of vehicle and load for each vehicle which he proposes to operate under the permit, in accordance with the following schedule: 4,000 pounds or less .................... $ 5.00 4,001 to 8,000 pounds ................... 8.00 8,001 to 12,000 pounds ................. 12.00 12,001 to 16,000 pounds ................. 16.00 16,001 to 20,000 pounds ................. 20.00 20,001 pounds or more .................. 25.00 In the event that the permit is denied or the number of permitted vehicles is reduced by the director, the fee or the amount thereof which is in excess of the amount indicated by the number of vehicles permitted shall be refunded.
