30:4-51. Legal settlement in this State, as distinguished from legal settlement in any political subdivision thereof, shall be continuous residence in the State for a period of at least one year immediately preceding the date of the application for admission or commitment, excluding the time, if any, spent by the patient in any charitable or correctional institution or public hospital. Amended 1995,c.155,s.11.
