§ 30:4-129 — Power to summon witnesses; resolution designating division chief

The state board, the commissioner and one of the chiefs of the various divisions enumerated in section 30:1-9 of this title shall have power to compel the attendance of witnesses, to administer oaths, to examine persons whose examination is deemed necessary or expedient, to investigate or cause to be investigated the record, health, ability and character of each patient, ward, or inmate, admitted, received or committed to any institution which is subject to the examination, supervision or jurisdiction of the state board, and on complaint of any person or upon its own initiative, to investigate the treatment or care of inmates and the conduct or management of any such institution. The state board shall from time to time by resolution filed with the secretary of state designate the chief of division to exercise such powers which designation so filed shall be deemed due notice thereof.
