§ 27:14-44 — Repair and maintenance; funds; how raised

The board of chosen freeholders shall appropriate all moneys necessary to keep the roads constructed under this article in good repair and free from obstruction, and if the board shall have no money which may be lawfully used for such purposes, it may borrow it on the credit of the county, until the next annual taxes shall have been levied and collected. The cost of all repairs and removal of obstructions shall be paid by the county treasurer upon the order of the board, and all bills for repairs and removal of obstructions shall be verified by affidavit and certified to be correct by the county supervisor of roads.
