Text
The cost and expense of any of the public improvements authorized by sections 27:14-35 and 27:14-36 of this title shall, as far as possible, be assessed upon the real estate specially benefited by the improvement in proportion to and not in excess of the benefit received. The assessment shall be made in the manner and under the procedure provided by law for the making of other assessments for street improvements within the municipality. Nothing in this article shall impose upon any municipality therein referred to any part of the cost of the maintenance and repair of the roadway of any road improved under the provision of this article.
