Text

The administrator and head of the department shall be a commissioner, who shall be known as the Commissioner of Transportation, and who shall be a person qualified by training and experience to perform the duties of his office. The commissioner shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor during the Governor's term of office and until the appointment and qualification of the commissioner's successor. The commissioner shall receive such salary as shall be provided by law. The person in office as the Commissioner of Transportation on the effective date of this act shall hold the office of Commissioner of Transportation until his successor is appointed and has qualified.
