In any quarantine for venereal disease or any commitment or court order imposed by authority of this act upon any person who, since immediately prior to the onset of the person's infection with a venereal disease, has been continuously a member of a well-recognized church, the principles of which are opposed to medical treatment for disease, any requirement to follow a course of medical treatment shall be optional, but in such case the termination of the period of quarantine, commitment or applicability of the court order shall be determined by the duration of the infectious stage of the disease, as defined by the State Department of Health; provided, however, that nothing herein shall be construed as exempting any such person from any other provision of this act, including the requirement
