He shall then hand the ballot with the coupon undetached to the member of the election board having charge of the ballot box, which member shall call off the number of the ballot and the name of the voter. If the name and number agree with the record in the poll book, the election officer having charge of the poll book shall so announce and place the word "voted" opposite the poll number to indicate that the person shown thereon as receiving the ballot has voted. In districts having permanent registration the member of the board having charge of the signature copy register shall record the ballot number in the proper column of the record of voting form.
