a.The council shall annually elect from among its members a chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary, and treasurer. The term of office for each of those offices shall be one year, commencing April 1st and extending to March 31st of the following year. If for any reason an officer of the council is no longer a member of the council as defined pursuant to subsection a. of section 6.1 of P.L.1979, c.111 (C.13:18A-7), the officer shall be deemed to have resigned from the office as of the date of loss of membership and the office shall be deemed vacant. In the event of a vacancy in the office of the chairperson, the vice-chairperson shall assume the duties of the office of chairperson until the next annual election as provided in subsection b. of this section.
