The powers and duties of the trust shall vest in and be exercised by a board of 11 trustees comprised initially of the six members of the Natural Areas Council, who shall serve for terms co-extensive with their respective terms on the council, and shall be succeeded by trustees appointed by the Governor from a list of candidates nominated by a nominating committee provided by a group of nonprofit New Jersey corporations having open space preservation or environmental education as their corporate purpose, such as North Jersey Conservation Foundation, New Jersey Audubon Society, Rutgers, The State University, New Jersey Federation of Women's Clubs, Conservation and Garden Department, New Jersey Federation of Garden Clubs, and Watershed Associations incorporated in the State of New Jersey.
