Text

(1)The executive and administrative powers, authorities, and duties in a city of the metropolitan class shall be distributed among the following departments:
(a)Finance;
(b)Fire;
(c)Human Resources;
(d)Human Rights and Relations;
(e)Law;
(f)Parks, Recreation, and Public Property;
(g)Planning;
(h)Police; and
(i)Public Works.
(2)The city council shall determine the powers and duties to be exercised and performed by such departments, and assign such powers and duties accordingly. The city council may prescribe the powers and duties of all officers and employees of the city and may assign particular officers or employees to more than one of the city departments.
