The department may confer with the director of the United States geological survey and
may accept the cooperation of the United States to execute topographic surveys and maps of
this state. The department may arrange with the director or other authorized representative of
the United States geological survey concerning the details of the surveys or maps, the method
of execution, and the order in which the surveys and maps of different parts of the state are
undertaken.
