Text
An individual authorized by law to take or receive the proof or acknowledgment of the
execution of an instrument or affidavit and to certify to the same may not take or receive the
proof, acknowledgment, or affidavit or certify to the same if that individual is a party to the
instrument or a member of any partnership that is a party to the instrument, or if the husband or
wife of that individual is a party to the instrument. An acknowledgment taken or received in
violation of this section is invalid.
