If the witness from another state is summoned to attend and testify in a criminal prosecution
in this state, the witness is entitled to the fees and expenses provided to witnesses under
section 31-01-16. A witness who has appeared in accordance with the provisions of the
summons shall not be required to remain within this state for a longer period of time than the
period mentioned in the certificate.
