Text
1.Upon petition by a person interested in the child's welfare, the court may appoint an
emergency guardian if the court finds that compliance with the procedures of this
chapter will likely result in substantial harm to the child's health, safety, or welfare.
Immediately upon receipt of the petition for an emergency guardian, the court shall
appoint a guardian ad litem to advocate for the best interests of the child.
2.An emergency guardian may be appointed without hearing or notice to the child, the
child's parent or legal custodian, or the child's guardian ad litem only if the court finds
from affidavit or other sworn testimony that the child will be substantially harmed
