Text

If any person asks to be excused from attending and testifying or from producing any evidence at any trial or hearing on the ground that the testimony or evidence required may tend to incriminate that person or subject that person to a penalty or forfeiture, but is directed to give the testimony or produce the evidence, that person shall comply with the direction; but no testimony or evidence compelled from an individual after a valid claim of the privilege against self-incrimination has been made may be used against the individual in any criminal proceeding, or in any proceeding to subject the individual to a penalty or forfeiture. However, no individual so testifying is exempt from prosecution or punishment for any perjury or false statements committed while testifying and the testimony
