For purposes of any examination authorized or required by law, the company being examined shall pay the same charge for the examination as is provided in section 26.1-01-07 for an official examination. The compensation to be paid to the employees of the commissioner is to be paid out of the appropriation for the commissioner's office. Any sum paid to the employees or to the commissioner by the company examined, as an examination fee or otherwise, is state money, and forthwith must be paid into the insurance regulatory trust fund.
