be interested in contracts. No member of the supervising department, nor any employee of any of the same, nor any employee of the institutions under control of the supervising department, may be interested, directly or indirectly, in any contract, purchase, or sale for or on account of any of the institutions under control of such supervising department. Any violation of the provisions of this section is sufficient cause for removal from office.
