compliance. Failure by election board officers to comply with any of the formalities required by this chapter as to the return of the ballots does not invalidate any election nor cause any ballot otherwise regular to be disregarded. Any omission or irregularity in the manner of identifying or returning the ballots of any precinct may be obviated by proof under the ordinary rules of evidence.
