The University of North Carolina Health Care System and any domestic nonprofit corporation may merge in the manner provided in G.S. 55A-11-09, except that the merger need not comply with G.S. 55A-11-02 as required by G.S. 55A-11-09(b)(3). For the purposes of this section, the University of North Carolina Health Care System is deemed an unincorporated "business entity" as defined in G.S. 55A-11-09(a) and the University of North Carolina Health Care System, the University of North Carolina Hospitals, or another component unit of the System is the surviving business entity of any merger effected pursuant to this section.
