(a)Program Establishment. - There is established the Education and Workforce Innovation and CTE Grade Expansion Program (Program) to foster innovation in education that will lead to more students graduating career and college and to prioritize the inclusion of students in sixth and seventh grades through grant awards provided to selected local school administrative units and charter schools. (a1) Types of Grant Awards. - Funds appropriated to the Program shall be used to award competitive grants depending on the needs of the State, as determined by the Commission, by dividing the grants between each type as innovation grants pursuant to the provisions of this section or as grants for grade expansion for career and technical education pursuant to the provisions of G.S. 115C-64.17.
