50-60-711 . Inspections -- fees -- exception.
(1)Except as provided in subsection (2), all elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, or other equipment subject to the provisions of this part, including freight elevators, must be inspected by the department to ensure compliance with the requirements of the applicable building code and this part. The department shall establish and charge a reasonable fee based on the type of equipment being inspected that may not exceed the expense of providing the inspection. Inspections must be made on an annual basis, except that freight elevator inspections must be conducted every 2 years.
(2)(a) In lieu of an inspection by the department, inspections of equipment provided for in subsection (1) may be made by a licensed elevator inspector.
