§ 7-3-4310 — Election For Municipal Officers After Reorganization

7-3-4310 . Election for municipal officers after reorganization.

(1)If the majority of the votes cast at the election are in favor of reorganization, the city or town council shall hold a meeting within 1 week after the election and order an election to be held in accordance with Title 13, chapter 1, part 4, for the purpose of electing the number of commissioners to which the municipality is entitled. This order must specify the time of holding the election, which must be in accordance with 13-1-405 . For the first election of officers, a primary election may not be held. The term of office for officers initially elected under this subsection expires after subsequent officers are elected pursuant to subsection (2).
