61-3-313 . Motor vehicles exempt from registration renewal.

(1)The following motor vehicles are exempt from the registration renewal requirements of 61-3-312 :
(a)motor vehicles owned or leased and operated by the government of the United States or by the state of Montana or a political subdivision of the state;
(b)motor vehicles registered as part of a fleet under 61-3-318 ; and
(c)apportionable motor vehicles registered as part of a fleet, as defined in 61-3-712 , that is subject to the provisions of 61-3-711 through 61-3-733 .
(2)Unless a transfer of ownership occurs, a travel trailer, trailer, semitrailer, pole trailer, motorcycle, or quadricycle, including a motorcycle or quadricycle registered only for off-highway use under Title 23, chapter 2, part 8, is permanently registered.
