76-16-315 . Procedure upon inability to locate person responsible for trespassing livestock. If a state district takes possession of livestock after due diligence to discover the owner or possessor of the livestock and the owner or possessor cannot be found or the ownership of the livestock discovered or if a party takes possession of livestock and the owner or claimant refuses to pay the amount of damages or charges or to furnish bonds, as provided in 76-16-311 , the state district or person shall, within 10 days from the time that the livestock was taken into possession, deliver to the sheriff of the county in which the livestock was taken into possession or to the nearest state livestock inspector a statement containing the information required to be given in the notice set out in 76-16
