Text
1.Upon the death after August 28, 2003, of a member in service, or upon the death of a member who was in service on or after August 28, 2003, and who dies after having been retired and pensioned, there shall be paid, in addition to all other benefits, a funeral benefit of one thousand dollars to the person or entity who provided or paid for the funeral services for such member.
2.Any member who was retired on or before August 28, 2003, and is receiving retirement benefits from the retirement system, upon application to the retirement board, shall be appointed by the retirement board as a consultant for the remainder of such member's life.
