Text

It shall be the duty of the department of corrections to ensure that an autopsy is performed upon all offenders within the custody of the department who die under violent or suspicious circumstances or apparent suicide to ascertain as nearly as possible the cause of death.  The department shall maintain a record of the findings and conclusions of each such autopsy.
