1.When an application is made for aid to dependent children or aid to the permanently and totally disabled benefits because of the physical or mental condition of a person the family support division shall require the person to be examined by competent medical or other appropriate authority designated by the family support division. If benefits are paid because of the physical or mental condition of a person the family support division may, as often as it deems necessary, require such person to be reexamined by competent medical or other appropriate authority designated by the family support division. Written reports of examinations and reexaminations shall be required and evaluated by the family support division in determining eligibility to receive benefits or to continue to receive
