1.The departments of social services and elementary and secondary education shall develop a plan to encourage public schools and school districts to be Medicaid providers and to provide the most accessible care to school age children. A public school district, or a public school within any district, may elect to function as and be compensated for acting as a provider of Medicaid services. Pursuant to state and federal laws and regulations, a public school or school district shall, upon such election, provide such Medicaid services to all Medicaid-eligible school age children located in the service area of the school or district electing to be a Medicaid provider.
