Subdivision 1.Identification number. All snowmobiles made after June 30, 1972, and sold in Minnesota, shall bear the maker's permanent identification number stamped in letters and numbers in the form and at a location prescribed by rule of the commissioner. Subd. 2.Area for registration number. All snowmobiles made after June 30, 1972, and sold in Minnesota, shall be designed and made to provide an area on which to affix the registration decal. A clear area must be provided on each side of the cowling with a minimum size of 3-1/2 square inches and at least 12 inches from the ground when the machine is resting on a hard surface.
