Subdivision 1.Grants. The commissioner of public safety shall award grants to programs which provide support services or emergency shelter and housing supports as defined by section611A.31to victims of sexual assault. The commissioner shall also award grants for training, technical assistance, and the development and implementation of education programs to increase public awareness of the causes of sexual assault, the solutions to preventing and ending sexual assault, and the problems faced by sexual assault victims. Subd. 2.Applications. Any public or private nonprofit agency may apply to the commissioner for a grant to provide services to victims of sexual assault.
