Subdivision 1.General powers. In all cases where the commissioner has taken possession of the property and business of any financial institution, or any such financial institution is in the process of liquidation by the commissioner, the commissioner may, in the name of the financial institution or of the commissioner acting as such, for its use, bring and carry to an end all necessary actions in the proper courts to reduce its assets to money and to protect its property and rights, and to that end may, in the name of the financial institution or of the commissioner acting as such, execute all bonds and other papers necessary to carry on any such actions, and may, in its name, satisfy, discharge, and assign, by written instrument, any and all real estate and chattel mortgages and all othe
